Water Needs for Gulets and Blue Cruise

Crew plus guest consumption, watermaker capacity and model direction

Water demand on gulets and blue cruise boats is higher than on a typical sailboat: crew and guests sail together, shower use is heavy and routes rely on anchoring in bays. Watermaker selection depends on head count and usage habits, not boat length alone.

Our product selection guide recommends SCW-100, SCW-150 and SCW-350 for motor yacht / gulet (18–25 m); SCW-30 and SCW-50 are not recommended. Use our capacity guide for daily litres and tank + watermaker planning for storage.

Gulet Difference
  • Guests + crew together
  • Heavy shower use
  • Bay cruising — limited marina water
  • 230V generator — outside 12V segment

How to Calculate Daily Consumption

Same averages as our capacity guide. Gulet and charter routes usually use medium–high columns.

Item Low Medium High Unit
Drinking water345L / person / day
Galley, drinks5812L / person / day
Shower153050L / person / day
Cleaning, laundry51020L / person / day

Formula: Head count × litres/person/day = daily total

Our selection guide notes a 12-person gulet may need 400–600 L/day. The capacity guide's 12 crew / 24 m gulet example uses high consumption at ~600 L/day and points toward SCW-350.

Example Gulet Scenarios

Aligned with our capacity guide and location pages.

8 people — mid-size gulet (~20 m)

4 crew + 4 guests, medium-high use ~45 L/person/day

Daily total: ~360 L (capacity guide — 8 crew motor yacht example)

Model direction: SCW-150 (150 L/hour) → ~2.5 h/day. Requires 230V generator.

12 people — blue cruise gulet (24 m)

Crew + guests, high use ~50 L/person/day

Daily total: ~600 L (capacity guide)

Model direction: SCW-350 (350 L/hour) → ~2 h/day.

20–24 m blue cruise gulet (Göcek profile)

Our Göcek location page cites SCW-150 Pro Modular and 2–3 hours/day for typical 20–24 m blue cruise gulets (8–12 people band).

Note: Final model at survey with head count and tank volume.

24 m+ or 12+ people

Göcek FAQ and SCW-350 product page: step up to SCW-350 above 24 m or more than 12 people.

Target vessel (SCW-350): 20–30 m motor yacht, gulet, large sailboat — 350 L/hour, 230V.

Seacraft Model Direction for Gulets

Target vessel and capacity from product pages — starting point only; survey required.

Model L/hour Power Target vessel (product page) Run time at 600 L/day
SCW-100 100 230V 12–18 m motor yacht, mid-size sailboat ~6 h*
SCW-150 150 230V 14–20 m motor yacht, large sailboat, gulet ~4 h
SCW-350 350 230V 20–30 m motor yacht, gulet, large sailboat ~2 h

* Capacity guide targets 2–5 hours/day; above 6 hours suggests a larger model. SCW-100 may suit lighter gulet profiles; heavy blue cruise load more often points to SCW-150 or SCW-350.

Power and Tank Planning on Gulets

230V generator

SCW-100 – SCW-350 on gulets are 230V / 50Hz AC. Units usually run while the generator is on. 12V vs 230V — gulets sit in the 230V segment; SCW-30/50 are not suitable.

Fresh water tank

Gulets may have large tanks; blue cruise still drains them in days. Tank = buffer; watermaker = sustainable production — tank + watermaker planning.

Charter gulet

Capacity guide: size for peak guest load, not average day-use alone. Final model confirmed at survey with tank volume and generator hours.

Blue cruise route

Capacity guide: water independence matters more on blue cruise from Göcek, Marmaris or Bodrum than on marina-hopping itineraries. See service locations for installation areas.

4 Steps to Plan Gulet Water

1

Total head count (crew + guests)

2

Litres/person/day — medium–high for blue cruise

3

Daily total ÷ L/hour = hours/day (target 2–5 h)

4

Survey — generator, tank, installation space

Frequently Asked Questions

Our selection guide does not recommend SCW-30 or SCW-50 for motor yacht / gulet (18–25 m); it lists SCW-100, SCW-150 and SCW-350. Gulet daily need and generator infrastructure require 230V models. Who needs 12V? — gulet profile is outside.

Our Göcek page cites SCW-150 Pro Modular and 2–3 hours/day for typical 20–24 m blue cruise gulets. SCW-150 product page target: 14–20 m motor yacht, large sailboat, gulet. Head count and daily litres confirmed at survey.

Plan for peak guest week and shower habits — not average season days (capacity guide blue cruise note). If SCW-150 is insufficient, SCW-350 is reviewed; tank volume and generator hours planned together at survey.

Capacity guide general target: 2–5 hours/day. At 600 L/day need: ~2 h on SCW-350, ~4 h on SCW-150. Above 6 hours suggests stepping up a model.

Seacraft offers on-site survey and installation at Turkish coast marinas. See Bodrum, Marmaris, Göcek and other locations. Scope confirmed after survey.
